It makes me feel so much better that this has been reblogged. Knowing I might not be the only one who has felt like this at some point makes me feel less bad bout myself.
By saying that you only support abortion in cases of rape, you are just proving that the “pro-life” movement isn’t about caring about life, it’s about punishing people for having sex outside of the terms you deem appropriate.
Take abortion out of the Crimes Act!
Eughhhhhhh so gross. Victim blaming bingo - If it was so bad why did it take her so long to report it?!!11 And but they got back together!!1!1!1 And she has filed a restraining order on an ex!1!!! What more “evidence do you need! Because we all know that no woman is ever abused twice. And of course that wonderfully rational argument - pics or It didn’t happen1!1!1. Gross. Gross. Gross. And the most pathetic part? Fangirls claiming they’re not defending him. Try harder. None of the ridiculous myths about domestic violence victims you’re peddling are “facts” ok? It’s fine to say “well, I saw him in Shame and he has a big dick and he’s cute so I reckon he didn’t do it”. It’s not OK to attack a woman with bullshit usually shouted from the rooftops by abusers. Don’t be so fucking disingenuous.Read all of these for the love of god. Within them they contain links to relevant and credible sources. Spreading these links around/reblogging them would be A+ also.
He’s also an abuser.
In 2009, his then-girlfriend filed for a restraining order against him for acts that included once incident where he threw her over a chair, breaking her nose, and another where he dragged her along the side of her car, causing her to blow out a kneecap, twist her ankle, and burst an ovarian cyst.
In 2011, while filming Dangerous Minds, he told Keira Knightly that she wasn’t in a position to dictate whether he spanked her while she was tied up.
Regardless of what his ex or what Keira said to him, his responses were those of a verbal and physical abuser, those of a person who revels in violence against women to fulfill his sense of power.
I know he has a new movie coming out, but I am shocked by the number intelligent, feminist-leaning, critical thinking women on my dash who, despite knowing about his abusive behavior, continue to post pictures of him and spend their money on movies that he profits from.
It really speaks to the power of cognitive dissonance when the same people go from telling off racists to being outraged about Chris Brown (an attractive Black abuser) to glorifying Michael Fassbender (an attractive white abuser).
Do you know what you are saying when you post those Fassy pictures? You’re excusing his behavior. You’re saying that because he’s so attractive, because he’s an actor, what he did doesn’t matter, doesn’t affect how you feel about him. And by extension, you’re excusing other attractive abuser’s behaviors. You’re saying to the present, past, and future domestic violence survivors among your followers that their abuser’s appearance is more important than his actions. You’re saying that the abuse perpetrated by an attractive white man is more excusable than the abuse perpetrated by an attractive Black man.
